Hart Felt volunteers are a vital part of our organization. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to help frail seniors in our community.

Hart Felt Ministries is looking for volunteers to serve our ever growing list of seniors in need. Your talents are needed, whether it’s the gift of gab, you like to drive, or you are a skilled tradesman – we have a critical need for plumbers, electricians and general contractors. What can I do to help?

There are a variety of ways that you can become involved as a Hart Felt volunteer, such as:

  • Friendly visits (1 hour/week)

  • Grocery shopping

  • Light housekeeping (no deep cleaning)

  • Advocacy

  • Assist client to organize, understand, and respond to bills and correspondence

  • Minor home repairs (no more than $250 in materials)

  • Respite (2 hrs/wk)

  • Wheelchair ramp construction

  • Transportation to medical appointments

  • Yard mowing and cleanup projects

Services are provided at no cost to disabled seniors who are living independently, are 70 years of age or older, and have been diagnosed with a chronic illness or disability.

No hands-on care (bathe, lift, feed, personal care), financial assistance, or medication administration/assistance will be provided. No transport assistance available to wheelchair bound clients.


Step 1: Submit an Application

Fill out our VOLUNTEER APPLICATION or call Hart Felt at 904-861-2799.

Step 2: Undergo background screen and provide references

All volunteers must undergo a background screen and provide references. Once you’ve submitted the request to be a volunteer, you’ll be contacted by Hart Felt and provided an application that includes permission for Hart Felt to conduct a background screen and reference check.

Step 3: Attend Orientation

Once you’ve passed the background screening and reference check, you’ll be notified by Hart Felt of an upcoming volunteer orientation/training which are usually held once a month on a Saturday morning — but other arrangements can be made if needed.

Step 4: Choose How You Want To Help

At the orientation/training you’ll be given more information about Hart Felt and the services we provide to our clients and you’ll be able to choose how you’d like to serve.

Step 5: Fill out Additional Paperwork (if needed)

Additional paperwork, if necessary, will be completed and the volunteer will be notified of the next step depending on the service he/she chooses to provide.

Step 6: Team Leader Introduction

The volunteer is introduced to his/her client or team leader (if choosing to serve on a team) and a monthly report of time and service rendered is requested from each volunteer at the end of each month.
